West Yorkshire companies in takeover deal

Acumen Waste Services has acquired Highspeed Group, including subsidiary companies, staff, headquarters and a waste transfer and treatment facility in Keighley, West Yorkshire.

Acumen, a privately owned provider of hazardous waste solutions, is based in Knottingley, also in West Yorkshire.

The company says the takeover, for an undisclosed sum, will complement its existing national waste management infrastructure and enable the company to develop new products and services.

Highspeed’s joint managing directors David Mears and Andrew Vincent are being retained as consultants.

Kris Sutton, finance director of Acumen (pictured second from right with the Highspeed team), said: “We’re proud to be able to welcome the Highspeed team and their customers to Acumen. Andrew Vincent, David Mears and the team can be justifiably proud of what they have achieved with the business.”

Mears commented: “Andy and I have developed the business over the last 16 years taking us into new market,s and we wanted to ensure that any new owners would share our vision for the business and Acumen have demonstrated those shared goals.

”We can now look forward to our retirement in due course.”
