Essex-based Green Recycling has added to its fleet with a Heil Farid Euro Half Pack Front End Loader (FEL), following a recent business acquisition.
The company had operated a Heil FEL for many years. But because of a new requirement to travel regularly from its base in Essex to the south of Kent, and ensure maximum payload was achieved, Green Recycling managing director Robert Smith re-quested a vehicle with improved payload and fuel consumption.
This objective was met in two ways: the purchase of a Scania 8x2 that had non-essential equipment removed, such as central locking, fridge and spotlight bar, and by negotiation with Heil Farid on further weight reduction of the body without affecting structural integrity.
This was achieved by the introduction of a lightweight front canopy, weight optimised front body head and a lightweight body access door.
Smith says: “The new FEL was purchased to enable us to fulfil our obligation with new contracts while at the same time optimising the vehicle with other loads on its return journey.
“Our key requirement was to ensure optimum payload combined with optimum fuel economy and performance. We believe we have achieved this with the Scania-Heil FEL combination. Our figures show that there is more than 1.5 tonnes difference between our older FEL and this new one.”
