MRW’s Industry Insight 2018

What a difference a year makes. Our 2017 survey revealed widespread frustration at a lack of Government leadership – but the sector is now anticipating fully fledged resources and waste strategy from Defra, the first in about 10 years.

Contents:

There is excitement in the air as waste management companies, local authorities, consultants and others try to get their voices heard in the corridors of Whitehall.

The questions this year were therefore geared towards what we think will feature in the strategy, including a deposit return scheme. We also focus on some of the biggest problems facing the sector, such as fires and waste crime.

The survey is a snapshot of the opinions of individuals who work in the sector, with the data gathered anonymously. This means we gain an understanding of what employees think, not of an organisation’s ‘official line’. Some employees may agree with their employer’s public views, but analysis of the results show a wide range of opinions within organisations.
