Expansion for Reconomy

2000 reconomy

Shropshire-based Reconomy has bought Cory Environmental’s waste brokerage businesses.

The acquisition follows that of Countrywide Waste Management and Network Waste in 2015, maintaining a four-year growth period.

On 6 July, Reconomy was crowned Resource Management Business of the Year at MRW’s National Recycling Awards (pictured).

The company provides outsourced waste management services to the construction, infrastructure, industrial and commercial sectors.

Cory’s group, which includes Skippy Nationwide, Skip Hire UK and Cory Environmental Recycling Services, employs 38 people. The company said the sale was the result of a strategic review launched by its board, which concluded that the brokerage business was no longer core and that the long-term future of brokerage would therefore best be secured under new ownership.

Paul Cox, managing director of Reconomy, said Cory’s brokerage arm was close to its own geographic reach.

“This is an important acquisition for us, with a business that boasts an excellent customer base which complements that of Reconomy. The business has a strong focus on customer service and a company culture that we feel will not only work well with Reconomy, but also help us to grow and enhance our unique approach to waste management.

“[It] demonstrates that businesses want more from a waste provider than simply disposing of their waste.

“There has never been a better time to be part of Reconomy as we continue to grow, look ahead and develop ourselves well beyond the expectations of a traditional waste management provider.”
