OCS buys parts of Fountains from administrators

Facilities management firm OCS Group UK has bought parts of Banbury-based environmental services provider Fountains from administrators BDO.

Antony Nygate and Shay Bannon of BDO were this week appointed as joint administrators of Fountains Ltd, Fountains Support Services, Fountains Environmental and Fountains Forestry.

Services provided by these companies include waste management as well as grounds maintenance, street cleaning, landscaping, forestry and land management.

Martin Gammon, managing director of OCS Group UK, said: “This is great news for everyone at OCS and a clear demonstration of our intention to further develop our strong position as a leading player in the UK FM market.”

All employees engaged on the contracts acquired will be entitled to transfer to OCS Group UK Limited in accordance with The Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment) Regulations 2006.

Meanwhile Norwich City Council said its waste contractor Biffa had taken on duties previously carried out by Fountains, including emptying city centre litter bins.

The East Anglia authority added that it was in talks with a supplier about taking on certain services for a period of a few months.
