Record year for vinyl recycling

The national vinyl recycling scheme Recofloor has reported a record year with 508 tonnes of the material diverted from landfill.

Recofloor, founded by leading flooring manufacturers Altro and Polyflor, has more than 650 members throughout the UK and Ireland.

It says it has been successful in engaging with all levels of the flooring chain: distributors contributed 213 tonnes to the 2015 total; contractors were responsible for nearly 178 tonnes; while construction projects generated just over 28 tonnes.

Activities have included a communication campaign with distributors to encourage the use of drop-off sites.

Recofloor organiser Carla Eslava said: “Once again, we have exceeded 500 tonnes in a single year and we commend our members for this tremendous achievement.”
