Budget cash boost for EA 'to tackle organised crime'

I have personally operated as many as 15 Landfill sites and 5 Waste Transfer Stations. For the last few years I have worked on Waste Compliance and Regulation Assistance. The statement by Environment Agency UK Agency Head Sir James Bevan in 2016 - "Waste crime is 'The New Narcotics as it offers huge profits while costing England £1bn a year " is hugely understated. I work mainly in the Thames Valley Area. That one EA Region regulates the whole of Buckinghamshire, Berkshire, Surrey and parts of Hampshire,Wiltshire,Gloucester and Northants. That is around 8,000 Sq Miles or 5 million Acres whichever sounds the worse. There is one frustrated hard working Senior Waste Crime Officer with perhaps 1 to 2 assistants - if that. They are only able to react and are unable to properly police. There are "pop up waste sites" on a ongoing weekly basis. There are 9 illegal site presently operational that I know of in a 10 mile radius of me. One illegal landfill has been operational without planning and licencing for 29 years. Certainly one of the main reasons has been brought about by Waste Exemptions. They are being exploited by waste criminals using the ambiguity of them make enforcement or prosecution virtually impossible. I challenge The Editor to publish some of my findings on the true "on the ground analysis" There are also major companies that manipulate Landfill Tax payments to HMRC at an Institutional Level.
