Shredder makes high-quality SRF

Q: What is your product?

Blue Group is showcasing the Doppstadt DF 307 Rotaro RDF/SRF fine shredder.

Q: How does it work?

The shaft is driven by two three-phase 160kW AC motors, power coupled to each side of the rotor by drive belts. Output material is changed by selecting different basket mesh size.

Q: Where would it ideally be used?

The DF 307 Rotaro is ideally suited to waste management and SRF/RDF processors looking to produce a high specification material. The shredder can operate as a standalone unit, form part of a new plant or be retrofitted into an existing waste line.

Q: How is it different?

It is the first machine of its type from Doppstadt, which has specialised in the manufacture of shredding equipment since 1965. All the Doppstadt design philosophies are present on the DF 307 Rotaro, with a focus on low operating cost, high capacity and ease of maintenance.

Q: What are the benefits?

Robust steel construction ensures durability and smooth operation. A hydraulic pusher system with load- sensing control gives maximum throughput. Large maintenance access panels guarantee accessibility to the shredding chamber. Cutting blades on rotor and counter-blade can be rapidly changed. There is high energy efficiency due to large rotor mass. A shear pin coupling on the rotor drive protects the machine against damage from imported foreign objects. A rapid restart mode after incidents maximises working time

Q: Where has it been used?

KCM in Rotherham has recently installed the DF 307 into its waste system to create RDF/SRF.

Q Any savings?

With the correct raw material, an operator can produce a high-grade SRF for cement kilns as a substitute to fossil fuels. This is preferable to sending waste to landfill.

Q: What about maintenance?

The Rotaro is a maintenance-friendly shredder, which has been designed with accessibility and minimising downtime in mind. Periodic services must be carried out to ensure optimum performance and efficiency. This is fully supported by Doppstadt warranty and the Blue Group’s service and spares infrastructure.

Q: How is it future-proofed?

The DF 307 Rotaro is a versatile fine shredder with its interchangeable cutting blades and basket mesh size giving flexibility in output production.

Q: How many have been sold?

Doppstadt has sold units throughout Europe, with KCM the first of many installations anticipated for the UK.
