What is your product?
A Pod Compactor system for novel and hygienic waste management. It is particularly suited to situations where there are height restrictions or other space constraints, such as underground car parks. The pod system enables waste contractors to offer a profitable service to commercial clients.
How does it work?
Waste is compressed into the closed pod and then the pod is exchanged by the waste contractor. The conical pods can be handled by conventional or mini skip trucks or by a dedicated low-level vehicle.
Where would it ideally be used?
The super-compact design makes it possible to segregate recycling in offices and other facilities with limited space. Contractors can provide a clean recycling solution to meet the rapidly growing recycling demand from business.
How is it different?
The small footprint compactor is particularly suitable for underground car parks and other confined spaces. The footprint of the compactor and pod is less than 8sq m and this replaces up to 24 1,100-litre four-wheeled bins.
What are the benefits?
It occupies less space, and is clean and hygienic. It has an optional ozoniser that removes any final traces of odour that may occur when large quantities of organics are present in waste streams.
What about maintenance?
Just the pod needs to be replaced when full. The waste management company carries out the maintenance.
How many have you sold and where?
The Pod Compactor is already in daily use in more than 400 office blocks, hotels and apartments across Europe. In every Ikea store in the Netherlands, for example, the system is used for all restaurant waste.
Options include a hopper and chute facility to ensure that the refuse is delivered safely to the right place, as well as an SMS text module. This alerts operators when a pod is nearly full, ensuring that pod changeovers can be scheduled in the most efficient and economic routing for the contractor.
For maximum flexibility, the pods can be transported using standard ‘chained’ skip carriers or with their own customised vehicle which incorporates an automatic vehicle ‘kneeling’ facility to negotiate underground car parks. The pods are slightly conical which makes them easy to empty.
The Pod Compactor runs on single-phase power.
