Technology news - 17 August 2013

Viridor has invested in technology from Microlise to support its drive to improve efficiency in its transport operations. Microlise specialises in vehicle tracking, telematics, journey management and electronic proof of delivery systems.

Microlise telematics devices will be installed over the coming months in Viridor’s UK fleet at over 40 locations, consisting of over 600 rigid and heavy goods vehicles.

The waste management company’s clearly defined goals in implementing Microlise’s Telematics and Transport Management solution include a reduction in carbon emissions, improvement in the safety of both drivers and the general public and further advancement of standards of customer service.

Trials were carried out at Viridor’s London and Berkshire depots where the Microlise solution showed that an average fuel and carbon emissions saving of 5.9% was realised.

Viridor has opted for Microlise’s Fleet Performance Telematics package with the safety module, Journey Management package and Electronic Proof of Delivery package.
