Although the weather has improved and the pound has weakened this has proved cold comfort for sorters and graders of used clothing in the UK. There is plenty of material available at the moment and everyone is worried about quality. Prices are still falling in the charity shop market. This is just starting to drip feed into other markets. Charity Shops are more often than not contacting collectors and graders for business and not the other way round.
Original grades like Door to door and cash for clothing have picked up a bit as eastern europe emerges from the cold winter and the roads open up again. However, margins are tight. the African market is typically slow for this time of year. No respite in sight for collectors or sorters at the moment. Its batten down the hatches and wait for prices to fall further to more sustainable levels.
