Tougher containers for recycling help to save money

Container repair and refurbishment company UK Container Maintenance (UKCM) has launched a campaign to emphasise the importance to the waste industry of strengthening containers.

‘Beef Up Your Bin’ has been devised by the technical team at UKCM to ensure containers that have received an intense amount of wear and tear are treated accordingly.

Emma Elston, co-founder of UKCM, said: “Due to our extensive experience working with recycling waste containers, we noticed that certain areas of containers are damaged more than others, namely wheel brackets and front corner plates. Fitting reinforcing plates to the castor bracket areas and bash plates to the corner of the panels will help avoid the corner floor areas buckling and prevent structural damage, thus allowing containers to be manoeuvred more easily.

“It also means containers last longer and will save local authorities and waste companies thousands of pounds each year.”
