Waste crime captured on CCTV

Croydon Council is appealing for help in tracing and prosecuting the area’s “number one fly-tipping offender” after the dumping of three tonnes of building waste was filmed.

A resident’s CCTV camera recorded a Ford Transit tipper truck dropping the rubble, plaster and wood without stopping as it drove along Croham Manor Close in South Croydon on 15 March.

The van, which has the number plate X597 AAF, was located and seized in Addiscombe on 11 April and efforts are now concentrating on finding the driver.

The council’s environmental enforcement team has put the video on YouTube because it is believes the unregistered van has been used for fly-tipping elsewhere in the borough, including Addiscombe, Norbury and Thornton Heath.

Anyone with information is asked to call the council’s dedicated hotline on 020 8604 7000 or email
