Weigh and monitor

Moba has begun fitting its bin weighing and ID technology to Fortress Recycling’s new fleet of Heil waste trucks, which will allow the implementation of a pay-as-you-throw pricing model.

This will be the first time that Heil’s fully automatic front loading technology, developed with Moba, will be available in the UK. It enables the bin to be lifted and weighed without any interaction from the driver, speeding up operations to allow more collections per day.

Moba has integrated its Mawis technology into the AMCS IT management system that will transmit realtime data back to Fortress’s back office. This will allow the company to generate invoicing for the waste collected.

David Pass, Fortress managing director, said: “There is now a growing groundswell of support among our customers for the pay-as-you-throw charging method because they can see it will not only help them reduce their waste costs over time but will also greatly increase their recycling rates.”
